New York City Public Markets are unique public places that celebrate the
rich history, diverse cultures, communities, and cuisine of the city we love.
MOORE STREET MARKET
Moore Street Market was founded in 1941 as La Marqueta de Williamsburg. This Brooklyn gem is integral to the fabric of East Williamsburg. The Market is characterized by deep-rooted Latino influences, ubiquitously seen in the Market’s cuisine and produce sold. The market currently houses 15 vendors—ranging from groceries, seafood, fresh produce, to a botanica, tailor, barbershop, and much more. In addition, Moore Street Market offers year-round events including cooking classes, sewing seminars, reading workshops, small business seminars, and holiday celebrations. The 15,000 square foot market is located within the bustling Graham Avenue shopping district in between the J and L subway lines.
EL PUENTE IS OUR NEW COMMUNITY PARTNER
We are pleased to announce NYCEDC has selected El Puente as Moore Street Market’s new community partner! El Puente is an independent non-profit organization whose mission strongly aligns with Public Markets core values: namely that markets serve as community hubs that celebrate and preserve local culture. El Puente will work in concert with NYCEDC and the Moore Street Market Merchants’ Association to plan, produce and implement marketing activities and cultural programming that supports market vendors and the local community.
UPGRADES TO THE MOORE STREET MARKET
The Market recently received $2.7 million dollars in funding from New York City Council and Brooklyn Borough President’s Office to kick off a series of renovations to revitalize the current market structure and space.
Special thanks goes to Council Speaker Corey Johnson and Council Member Antonio Reynoso.
